ABOUT ME

My name is Andrew Savory and I am vice president of brand and communications for the Vancouver Bandits, British Columbia's professional basketball team at Langley Events Centre and one of 10 teams across six provinces in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).

I capitalize on the fact that sports allow for brand, sales and storytelling to intersect. A team’s impact can inspire the community, satisfy partners and elevate an organization to new heights.

I am a proven performer that knows how to manage stakeholders. I oversee all creative developed for sponsorship obligations and I help hire our game day operations and volunteer teams.

I am a dedicated performer that has managed NBA and national team players in the fray of championship media obligations and I have moderated international press conferences at the FIBA Basketball Champions League Americas tournament. I believe in leading by example and I bring lessons learned from key experiences in professional and university sports to my day-to-day work.

During the CEBL season, I oversee our brand, broadcast and operations departments. My team handles the design of digital assets for in-venue and social media use, preparation of game notes for broadcasters, media accreditation and delivery of advisories, recaps and highlights. When not pitching to editors, I tell stories of the next generation of men’s and women’s basketball talent through my part-time job as a U SPORTS colour commentator at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) since 2018. Prior to UFV I studied toward my master of journalism at Carleton University with a focus on longform journalism. My thesis was on the history and development of Chinese basketball.

I am a dedicated team player that uses the vehicle of sports and entertainment to bring people together through building long-lasting sponsorships that are rewarding for fans and partners. I develop unique community partnerships and work with creative teams to develop first-class content and marketing materials across a variety of platforms that will resonate with fans, garner media attention and satisfy stakeholders.
